Cook With Love For More Nourishment

One of the greatest mysteries of life is why your mom’s home cooked meal tastes better than a plate from a five star restaurant or why your grandma’s apple pie tastes better than a store bought pie.

Researchers from the University of Maryland have scientific proof that good intentions can increase pleasure and simply put, food made with love tastes better.

This concept can also be applied to food that’s cultivated and harvested. Organic farming requires love. Food grown with love is more satisfying and contains more nourishment.

Can eating utensils affect taste?

Here's a fun fact for you: According to researchers from the University of Oxford, your choice of eating utensil can impact taste and level of satisfaction of food.

Participants in the study concluded that yogurt eaten from a plastic spoon tasted denser and more expensive while the same yogurt eaten from a ‘heavy’ teaspoon was less dense, less tasty and was the sweeter of the two.

Another experiment revealed that cheese eaten from a toothpick or knife was perceived as saltier than when eaten from a different utensil. A suggested explanation for this is cheese shops often provide samples directly from the knife and these specialty stores often stock an array of aged and salty cheeses.

Wooden cooking utensils are suggested to be a great option, as they are arguably be less toxic than plastic and metal utensils, which likely contain lead, aluminum, nickel and other metals.
