High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is a sweetener obtained from corn. Recently the corn industry has pushed to have high fructose corn syrup relabeled corn sugar. The attempts have failed and the attempt was made because people have a negative view of HFCS. And rightly so as HFCS can and does easily upset most people's blood sugar levels. When our blood sugar becomes imbalanced we can feel irritable, lethargic, foggy, tired and unfocused. And in the long run this imbalance can lead to a host of health conditions such as diabetes. What ever happened to Adult Onset Diabetes?

It was a term once used to indicate that an adult had acquired diabetes, as opposed to those born with the condition. My dad was diagnosed with Type II Adult Onset Diabetes in the early 80's. It also had another name then, non-insulin dependant diabetes and back then it was unheard of for children or young adults to have diabetes. Hence the name Adult onset, my dad was 45 at the time and a lifetime of cakes and Italian pastries had caught to him and left its mark.
